Flute, Clarinet, and Saxophone Symposium

The School of Music at Western Illinois University is pleased to announce a woodwind festival on November 7, 2021, on the campus of WIU. Open to flutists, clarinetists, and saxophonists of all ages, it will feature masterclasses with internationally renowned soloists and teachers, as well as the faculty of the WIU School of Music.
Thomas Robertello, flute professor at Indiana University, Steve Cohen, clarinet professor at Northwestern University, and Joe Lulloff, saxophone professor at Michigan State University will be the featured artists in an online masterclass with WIU woodwind students. High-School students will be able to compete in a competition, with winners appearing in an in-person masterclass with WIU faculty Professors Suyeon Ko, Eric Ginsberg, and Charlie Chadwell. Those students selected in the competition will attend free of charge.
The conclusion of the day will be an ensemble performance for each of the three instruments: flute choir, clarinet choir, and saxophone ensemble.
For Junior and High-School masterclass competition, please submit a YouTube link of any works by October 15th to Dr. Ko at s-ko@wiu.edu. The winners will be contacted individually no later than October 22nd.
